Well, since folks have been showing us such wonderful art, I thought I'd share what I've been working on. A while ago, a certain Hindu divinity who shall remain pachydermoid gave me a bit of a hand in the Deus Ex Machina department of writing SHIM. I promised a portrait, and it isn't done yet (I still need to add some jewelry and make the necklace in his lower left hand more obvious), but it felt like the night to post it here.

Thanks and blessed be

Well, here's the last two parts of Sherlock Holmes' Inner Monologue. Thanks to [info]elina_kivimakiand [info]harriet_kaarre, who created the wonderful original work. Thanks also to a certain elephantine gentleman, for lending a hand or four to the successful resolution of this work!

First, here's linx to the rest of them:

First off, does anyone have an impressive statue of Lord Ganesha? If so, can you send pic of same to me? I owe somebody a favor...

So, then. Here's the thing. I've sent the whole SHIM shebang to Kat to put up on However Improbable. Here's the link to her excellent site: http://excessant.com/HI/index.htm; I'll post the link to her setting of SHIM when she cobbles it up, and I'll keep posting them here a couple a day in the meantime.

Well, I'm back from the wilds of Massafreakingchussetts -- with all apologies to anyone who lives in that fine state, the driving around Boston is FUCKING INSANE!!!!

... ahem. Sorry. For those of you who don't know, I live in Vermont, where traffic is two cars and a cow. Well, maybe that's an exaggeration, but suffice it to say that driving in the greater Boston area is a little bit of a trial for this country mouse.

Oh, well, I got to spend the day at Corporate Headquarters er, Home Office, learning all about Conflict Resolution and How to Teach It To The Peons (I was the only peon in the room at the time). Now I'm supposed to go back to my management team and teach it to them.

Verrry interesting ....

Oh, and did I mention that I listened to the canon on CD all the way there and all the way back? I had "Beryl Coronet," "Yellow Face," "Black Peter," "Missing Three-Quarter," "Boscombe Valley Mystery," "Naval Treaty ..." and a few others I can't remember. All in all, I just listened to about 8 hours of Doyle (that is, when I wasn't listening to my car making disturbingly expensive-sounding noises through New Hampshire... sigh...)

Anyhoo, thanks to everyone who's been so kind & understanding. Here's 15 & 16 of SHIM, covering that wonderful cigarette episode.

No writing today, but still I'll post the next two.

This damn fever won't lift. At least it's low-grade and I'm no longer contagious. But sheeyit, I feel tired/miserable, and I've got to go down to the coroporate office Wednesday for another step in Becoming A Slightly Larger Cog in the Corporate Machine. At least Thursday is my (one) day off.

So, anyhoo, all that shit aside, here's the next 2 SHIMs:

But first, a rant. I work in healthcare. With an at-risk population. I had a 99.7 temp at 8:00 in the morning and called off sick. So did about half the staff yesterday, and half today.

I worked my shift today (having to sing to people, run a word game, take people for walks in the garden, and serve one meal and snack -- thank Gaia it wasn't a van ride day), the only one on in my department, backed up by a skeleton crew in nursing, and still running a fever, without breaks, save a 20-minute lunch.

Fine. Do it all the time. I won't bat an eyelash; I'm here for my grandmas and grandpas. I'm not bitching about that. I'm bitching 'coz I got this from my supervisor: "I know you were sick, but whatever it takes to get in here."

That is a direct quote. Not only is it not a complete sentence, but it is AGAINST REGS TO WORK WITH AN AT-RISK POPULATION WHEN ONE IS CARRYING A NASTY BUG!!!!) Y'see, after years of working in healthcare, I know my body's reactions enough to know which bug is a nasty one, and which one is just a "I'm going to make you feel mildly miserable." Turned out this was/is pretty damn bad, and is running through the staff like wildfire. I spent said sick day in oblivion, only periodically disrupted by weird, twisted, unpleasant dreams.

"Whatever it takes ..."

Did I mention that, while I work a fourteen day cycle that leaves me with two days in a row off twice a month (and working most holidays), my supervisor only works four days a week -- she has A THREE-DAY WEEKEND EVERY FREAKING WEEK!!!

Ahem. Sorry. End of rant. Thanks for listening.

Spike, still running a fever.

So here's the two SHIMS de jour:
